5 Reasons your business needs social media marketing

Check out 5 reasons your business needs social media marketing.

Social media can have an amazing impact on your business. With over 3 billion users actively using it, it’s hard to think of any reasons not to use social media to promote your business. Promoting isn’t the only thing you can do either, you can communicate with customers like you never have before, build relationships and a whole lot more.

1. To build a relationship with your target audience

Social media channels like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter allow brands the opportunity to not only promote their business but also connect with customers in a way that has never been seen before in business. If done correctly, your social media channels aren’t just a way to respond to complaints, but to also build long-lasting relationships with clients.

71% of consumers who have had a positive experience with a brand on social media are likely to recommend the brand to their friends and family. (Oberlo)

2. To build your brand

A brand is more than a logo and a specific set of colours. A brand is how you make your customers feel when they interact with it.

Social media allows you to show off your brand to potential customers and your current customers in many different ways. You can show your audience what your brand means through, video, images, quotes and many more ways.

Something that a lot of companies miss out on is brand consistency. When putting together your social media profiles, you need to use the same logo, banner and text across every platform, otherwise, your audience might get confused.

As you can see here at Kaizen Five, we have the same avatar and the same banner picture, so no one gets confused.

3. To gain attention during events

Got an event coming up soon that you want your audience to know about? Social media is the best way to advertise that event. Your current audience will not only check it out, but if they know someone that may be interested, they will share it with their friends.

What happens if you run an online business though? Well, you can go live! You don’t have to have a brick and mortar business to run events for your audience. Due to COVID-19 most, if not all, events got cancelled. But some events still went on, but they happened online. For example, Microsoft’s biggest event of the year still went on as they managed to live stream it.

4. To increase traffic

With social media being home to more than 3.2 billion + active users, there are plenty of opportunities to drive traffic to your website. This is actually what we are doing with this very blog. We have created this post here to inform and educate people, and then we post it on our social media to drive traffic to our post in the hopes people will want to learn more about us.

It doesn’t just have to be a blog you need to promote, it can be anything on your website. For example, you could be running an online shop, and you use social media to showcase some of your new products. Let’s say someone likes the look of your new product on Pinterest. They might like it enough that they want to buy it, and if you have left a link there to your website they will follow it and hopefully buy!

5. To provide support

Many people will now jump straight to social media to solve problems and find information. You can develop your reputation by offering support through social channels.

If you can’t resolve a support question publicly, just ask them to direct message you so you can respond to the message privately. Also, the faster you respond to questions and concerns, the better it will make you look, and also the customer will feel a lot better.
